Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day!

It seems our Mother Earth is birthing lately with all of her earthquakes, eruptions, storms and shifts. Like the birth process, it can seem dark and scary, even messy at times.
I like to remember that once that dark and mysterious process is over, a baby’s first breath is taken and there is great hope for the future.

Let’s celebrate today by giving back to her for all of her many gifts we and generations before us have received.

There are 365 days to a year, let’s pick 3 actions in honor of our mother earth’s spinning around the sun for us:

~Plant a seed.
~Fill a bird feeder or bird bath.
~Recycle your coffee cup or better yet, bring your own to work.
~Ride your bike, walk or car pool with co workers to work, to lunch or on your errands.
~Pick up a piece of trash today.
~Open your windows and let the fresh air sweep through your home and office.
~Take a trip with all of your batteries, toxic paint cans and other non land fill items to the proper disposal location in your town.
~Consider buying only Organic today. It really does make a difference both in nutrition and toxic chemicals to our bodies and the earth.
~Be mindful of the water you use. Don’t let the faucet run while you brush your teeth…think of all the people on the planet that don’t have clean water to drink.
~Use healthy natural soap for your dishes, your dishwasher and yourself. That soap ends up down the drain and somewhere an animal; like your beloved pet, will be drinking it.
~Hide some of your children’s toys for a month or two. When they are wanting you to buy them something new, bring it out again. You might be surprised at their reaction.
~If you buy something new to wear, remove something old from your closet and donate it. It will be new to someone out there and they will feel the same thrill you feel when you put on something new.
~Notice the gifts all around you today. The blue or stormy skies above. The smell of the air, the sound of the birds, the colors of spring or fall, and give thanks.

with love and respect to our great mother,
xo
