Feeling triggered, angry, upset or anxious? Track where in your body you feel sensation. Then look left and right 20 times. Track it again and repeat until the sensation and emotion subside. This activates your parasympathetic nervous system and will reduce your emotional response immediately.

It’s always so helpful to get new techniques for relieving stress. This is such a simple and doable solution 🙂
When I’ve been teaching my therapeutic movement class back in 1990s in NC, I used almost the same exercise, but plus to moving left and right, we moved eyes as if slowly following the number eight figure (horizontal), then we added same pattern for left arm (shoulder-to-fingertips) movement, right arm movement, then both arms as if caressing a physical surface of number 8 with both hands. Good for inter-hemispheric interaction!
