Marigolds for Garden Pest Control.

Did you know that planting Marigolds in your garden makes your vegetables flourish? The strongly scented foliage and flowers repel insects and the secretions from their roots inhibit weeds and parasitic worms called nematodes that destroy crops.

    Hi,
In 1965 I lived in a rental (in Victoria, B.C. Canada) that had marigolds all along the side of the house. I planted a vegetable garden at the back and transplanted marigolds to the veggie garden, all around the perimeter, just to make the garden look pretty. I had a flourishing garden, in fact almost insect free. I lived in a well established neighbourhood and most of the neighbours were retirees. These neighbours kept asking me what pesticides I was using. I told them none as I had a one year old and didn’t want her exposed to any. They quite frankly didn’t believe me and insisted that I must be using something. I had no idea at that time of the effects of marigolds! I was ahead of my time without knowing it.
